2009

after Mac Miller

it sharpens everyday

the edges of the stars

my chest reaches for something

you ask how I spend my weekends as a

mogul,

                               sitting in my silk

in my museum of a house

    fuminating

     the essence of my woman.

  —husband stirs the hallways

& we speak silently

he sang of unturned stones in 2018

you can take a step further than the truth

imagine the tragedy of the turn

loneliness remains in the keys & strings

I assume this is why king king kings go to war

a life ain’t a life ‘til you live it

I was digging me a hole

big enough to bury my soul

weight of the world

I have to carry my own

with these arms,

I can carry you home

at night

when you scared & alone
